MLB: Los Angeles Angels (+103) vs. Texas Rangers (-113) *Over/Under (8.5u -110)
The way the Los Angeles Angels have been scoring runs Jared Weaver might not have to be at his best when he faces the Texas Rangers tonight on just three days rest.
Weaver’s teammate, Ervin Santana, pitched just well enough yesterday to hold Texas at bay while the Angels’ offense mashed home eight runs. If Weaver can throw a half-way decent game against the 3-7-over-the-last-10-games Rangers, and the Angels can get to Colby Lewis.
Lewis, you might remember, was shellacked in his last outing by the Boston Red Sox. He was tagged with seven of the eleven runs scored by the Red Sox. The Rangers pitching staff as a whole has surrendered 45 runs over the past five games.
No wonder they’ve lost four out of five, and the Angels can creep to just one game out of first with a win in this one.
On the flipside of Texas’ woes from the mound, the Angels have scored 54 runs over the past seven games. That works out to an average of darn-near 8 runs per game.
When it comes right down to it, this series is proving that good pitching can overcome good hitting more often than not. The Angels will continue to feast on Texas pitching and Weaver throws well enough to win over the powerful-but-slumping Rangers.
Pick: Take the Los Angeles Angels (+103)
